Police: 'Vehicle malfunction' causes driver to lose control of his car

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - Oneida County Sheriff's officials say 40 year old Jeffrey Kimball of Westmoreland lost control of his car on Route 26 in Rome around 5:00 Friday afternoon when a vehicle malfunction caused Kimball's car to swerve off the roadway, strike a utility pole then roll over several times.

Kimball was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center for treatment. No word on the extent of his injuries.

Route 26 between old Oneida Road and Shed Road was closed for a while while National Grid power crews repaired the utility pole.
