Police: Woman drives drunk with child in car

LEE, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Taberg woman was sent to jail after police say she was driving drunk and erratically with young children in her car.

Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol says that 26-year-old Danielle Szablewski was driving east on Route 69, weaving into the other lane, when she turned into a store parking lot.

A passing motorist was an off-duty Rome Police officer who confronted Szablewski in the parking lot, according to authorities. The officer also discovered that a 12-year-old girl was a passenger of the vehicle. Police say they were contacted by that off-duty officer.

Szablewski was arrested and charged with Leandra's Law for aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle age 15 or less, endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated unlicensed operation as her license had already been suspended for a pending DWI charge in Lee.

Szablewski was sent to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
