Salvation Army in Utica kicks off Red Kettle campaign
By WKTV News

YORKVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Salvation Army in Utica starts ringing bells for their annual Red Kettle campaign on Wednesday and they kicked off the annual drive a day prior at Holland Farms in Yorkville.

The Red Kettle program buys Christmas meals and supports local food pantries, soup kitchens, and youth programs. Marolyn Wilson of Holland Farms is this year's honorary chairperson and after months of planning, she and the volunteers say they're ready for the season to begin.

"It's a massive task," said Lt. Michael Harrington of the Salvation Army. "We've got seventeen locations which we stand at and we have every organization and group gives a call and we have a big map with locations, figuring out times of who's going to be here. We're juggling people around. It's a massive operation."

Organizers say they hope to raise $100,000 this year but they need your help.
