Shelters at max capacity, adoption event planned for August

By WKTV News

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Several local animal shelters are teaming up for an adoption event that will take place next month.

Local shelters are at maximum capacity for dogs and are hoping to find homes for 100 dogs in just 8 days.

The event is being organized by Lainey's Army, a Facebook group formed after the death of Lainey earlier this year. Lainey was a 4 year old dog who died following severe neglect.

The event will be held in New Hartford across from K-mart. It begins Saturday August 17th and will continue until August 25th.

There will be a garage sale going on at the same time to raise money for the shelters as well. Garage sale items can be donated by calling (315) 794-6372.

The Stevens Swan Humane Society, the Humane Society of Rome, Angels of Fur and Rescue Me K-9 Rescue are all taking part.

An Animal Rally will be held on August 25 at 2 pm. Pets are invited.
