Sheriffs: Woman stole relative's ID to get credit card
ROME, N.Y. (WKTV)
- A Rome woman was arrested after an investigation revealed that she had used a relative's personal information to obtain a credit card.
24-year-old Melissa I. Brown was arrested by the Oneida County Sheriff's and charged with identity theft.
The investigation revealed that Brown used a relative's name, date of birth and social security number on an on-line application to obtain a credit card.
Authorities say that Brown used the credit card in an amount exceeding $500 before it was discovered and deactivated.
