Solvay man charged in connection to wire thefts

(WKTV) - A Solvay man was arrested Thursday in connection with copper wiring thefts from in and around military buildings at the Verona Test Site in the Town of Verona, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office said.

Frank Ruggireo II, 26, of Solvay is charged with a felony count of burglary in the third degree.

According to officials, copper wiring was stolen from the buildings on Germany Road in the Town of Verona during the summer and fall of 2012. The location was a test site for the former Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome. The property is still owned and maintained by the Air Force.

Ruggireo was arraigned at New York Mills Village Court and sent to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and the Onondaga County Probation Department.
