UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - As many are still recovering from the devastating flooding over the past two weeks here in Central New York, the Stanley Center for the Arts in Utica has announced an event to raise money to help out. The Stanley will host an 'Acoustic Jam' for American Red Cross Disaster Relief. It will be held next Wednesday, July 17th and will feature ten local bands and individual artists. Those include : The Birdseed Bandits Max Scialdone Justice McBride John Keller Rocky Graziano Randy Case Ashliegh Carr Solomon Davis Billy Wenzel Marcus Larabee & Gary Johnson Tickets are $10 at the door, and all proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Stanley Executive Director Jerry Kraus says the devastation has had a wide impact all across the Mohawk Valley and he thought this event would be a great way for people to help the cause and have a good time at the same time, "Everybody has a connection to somebody that was impacted. And for a lot of them it was devastation. And for a lot of them, it's been something that just happened a couple of years ago and they're going through it again. Our hearts are reaching out to them, and it's time for Central New Yorkers to joins us as we link arms and go forward to try to do what we can to try and help out the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund." Kraus adds, "The people that ask, well I wish there was something for us to do, how do we help out? Well, here's another way. You've seen the phone calls, the telethons, a lot of people have been chipping in to the donation buckets, but here's a great way to enjoy great local music." Red Cross of the Mohawk Valley Executive Director Jennifer Balog says the help is definitely needed, "As a community, we have kind of switched gears. We have gone from a response to a recovery. With that, there's still help that's needed. So events like this that is going to be happening next Wednesday really are going to help the community get back on their feet."
