Stepped up sobriety checkpoints for Labor Day weekend

By WKTV News

Heading into Labor Day weekend, police agencies are stepping up patrols for speeding, seat belts, but most of all, drunk driving, to keep drivers safe.

That's why it's all hands on deck for local law enforcement agencies.

There are stepped up patrols all weekend long.

If you do get pulled over, authorities say don't try to pull a fast one.

Patrol vehicles are equipped with cameras recording your every move during the stop.

One long-time DWI patrolman we spoke with says he's surprised by the number of people who still take chances with the zero tolerance laws.

Cpl. Noel Ames said, "Sadly, no matter how much we advertise it and no matter how many billboards, TV and radio commercials we run, people still often make poor choices, that's why we recommend zero tolerance."
