Students, residents clean up Mini-Park in Herkimer

HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - The rakes were getting a workout at the mini park on West Smith Street in the Village of Herkimer on Monday as students from Herkimer County Community College did their part for Earth Day to create a "cleaner and greener" community.

The college paired up with Herkimer Now, the Village of Herkimer and Keep Mohawk Valley Beautiful to clean up a number of parks in the village in an effort to make the area cleaner and greener.

Students and staff were busy at the mini park raking and bagging leaves.

"Earth Day, especially, you should keep the earth greener, you should keep it clean," said Avery McLemore, a student taking part.

This is not the first clean up and according to Vicki Brown, the Director of Student Activities at HCCC, adding that it definitely will not be the last.
