CLINTON, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Whitesboro woman is in critical condition at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse following a head-on collision in Kirkland Saturday afternoon.

Police responded to the accident shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday on Kirkland Avenue just south of the Old Kirkland Avenue intersection.

Officials say a vehicle operated by Colleen Doyle, 46, of Whitesboro, veered into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer owned by Eggan Environmental Services operated by Erin Lennon, 39, of Rome. The tractor trailer was hauling a load of water.

Dolye was seriously injured and was extricated from the vehicle by members of the Clinton Fire Department using the "jaws of life." Doyle was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center and later transferred to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse where she is listed in critical condition.

Mr. Lennon was taken to St. Luke's where he was treated for leg injuries and released.

Kirkland Police continue to investigate the accident and would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time. Witnesses are asked to call Officer Gene Sinardo at (315) 853-2924.
