Utica Zoo closed after power outage
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Sunday morning's high winds caused a large tree to topple a utility pole at The Utica Zoo, and that caused the power to go out to about a third of the property. Utica Zoo Executive Director Andria Heath tells NEWSChannel 2 that zoo officials decided to close the zoo for the rest of the day after the tree came crashing down. She says zoo officials didn't want to put any patrons or workers in danger, with more high winds expected throughout the day. Heath says she expects the zoo to be back open on Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. If open, the zoo 's hours will be 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M..
