By WKTV News

WESTMORELAND, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Westmoreland School board recognized their school marching band Tuesday night for taking top honors at a recent state competition. For the second year in a row the Westmoreland High School Marching Band has won the New York State field band competition.

In October the group performed at Syracuse's Carrier Dome.

Board members joined parents, teachers and students to watch a replay of the competition and congratulate the group of students themselves Tuesday.

"Being in a small community a lot of support, we were greeted by fire trucks and it was on our announcements it's been very rewarding we've been very lucky," said section leader Jessica Harper at the meeting.

There are 72 students in the school's marching band. After the video, each received a certificate of achievement.
