With changing tax laws and codes, preparers get refresher course
By NICOLE PITT

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica College is helping to refresh the minds of tax professionals in our area by hosting the New York State Practitioner Institute.

Roughly 30 professionals took part in the event Friday morning inside the Carbone Auditorium, with three main topics on the agenda - tax law updates, e-filing, and the audit process.

There are a lot of changes this year to the tax system and the Friday session provided an overview. It's also a way the college stays connected to the business world in our community.

"It's a program we've had here for many years," said Joni Pulliam of Utica College. "It's one of the ways that Utica College provides continuing education to tax preparers, accountants and CPAs."

The cost to attend the program was $45, which included breakfast as well.
