ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - In the wake of the school massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, one Rome man decided to design bracelets to help. He's set up a website for people to make a donation to the Newtown community and in exchange receive a silicone bracelet.

Eric Clark designed the bracelet in green and white, Sandy Hook Elementary's school colors with "Band Together Newtown Connecticut 12-14-12" written on it.

"I had heard a lot of people talking about how can we help? What could I do to help?" said Clark. "Its just an idea I came up with just spur of the moment."

His idea took off people across the United States, Canada, even Australia looking to donate.

"I've had everywhere from $5 to $175 donations so far," said Clark. "As of last night I think I've probably received a donation from every state in the nation."

Roughly $1,200 in donations so far that will go directly to the Newtown community.

Why? Eric Clark says he's doing it all for the kids.

"You know this is not that community, but this could have happened anywhere, and it has happened, it's happened several times we all see there's tragedies all over, this one really hit home to me," said Clark. "Not that any of those didn't but you know I have small children this could have happened here."

Eric expects the first shipment of 500 bracelets to arrive on Friday, ready to be shipped out to donors.
