Hundreds turn out for benefit for Valley Shooting victims

ILION, N.Y. (WKTV) - Hundreds turned out Sunday for a multi-location benefit to help the families of the victims of the Mohawk Valley Shootings.

The event grew so big, what was supposed to be held at the American Legion in Mohawk was joined by a concurrent event at Francesca's Banquet Hall in Ilion

To raise money for all six victims, including the two who survived, a silent auction was held that seemed to have endless amounts of items, all of which were donated.

Among the attendees, family members of shooting victim Michael Renshaw, including his mother-in-law Lois Vaazy. She said, "The Mohawk Valley is just tremendous, what they will do for people they don't even know, and stuff, especially four families and two that are wounded."

One of the event's organizers Shawn McGraw said, "It's the start of the healing process at an event that effected all of us."
