MOHAWK, N.Y. (WKTV) - Among the sadness of the shooting spree in Herkimer County, hope is still shining through for the two survivors, John Seymour and Dan Haslauer.

Both men were shot by Kurt Myers Wednesday morning at John's Barber Shop, owned by Seymour.

Seymour was upgraded to fair condition Wednesday, where his status remains.

Haslauer is still in critical condition at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Karen Haslauer, Dan's wife, spoke to NEWSChannel 2 on her husband's recovery. She said that Dan was scheduled to have surgery on Friday and his holding his own.

She said, "We would like to express our sincere gratitude for all the prayers, food, inquiries and kindness shown to us. We can't say enough about the quality of care Dan has been receiving from his doctors, nurses and staff. People have asked if there is anything they can do. Yes, keep the prayers coming and donate blood on Dan's behalf."

She continued, "Our hearts and sympathy go out to the families of the four deceased men. My husband and family firmly believe that 'guns don't kill, people do and we have the right to bear arms.'"
