Suspect's landlord: "Quite surprising to me"

MOHAWK, N.Y. (WKTV) - People who know Kurt Myers are beginning to share what they know about the individual who is suspected of going on a shooting rampage in Herkimer County Wednesday morning.

Bob Harrod, who is Myers' landlord, spoke exclusively to NEWSChannel 2. He said, "He was one of our best tenants. Always paid his rent on time. Quiet individual. Never complained. This is actually quite surprising to me."

Harrod and his business partner bought the property four years ago. Myers had already been living there. Harrod said he is in touch with State Police investigators.

The apartment is located at 32 South Washington Street, the same address that caught fire Wednesday morning that seemed to start the chain of events. There are three units in the building. No injures were reported due to the fire and the damage is still being assessed.

Harrod says he has offered housing to other tenants, since they are all displaced. The Red Cross is also offering assistance.
