Osama bin Laden killed in Pakistan

PAKISTAN (WKTV) - Al-Qaida mastermind Osama bin Laden has been killed and the United States has his body in custody. President Obama made the official announcement late Sunday night.

Osama bin Laden was reportedly killed by United States military action in Pakistan. It is being called a special operations raid.

A small team of Americans carried out the attack and took custody of bin Laden's remains, the president said Sunday in a dramatic late-night statement at the White House.

Bin Laden is notoriously credited for crafting the terrorist attacks on America on September 11, 2011, now almost ten years ago. Thousands of Americans lost their lives in New York's World Trade Center, the Pentagon, a field in Pennsylvania and on-board the planes that were hijacked.

Two wars, in both Afghanistan and Iraq, were waged in response to those terrorist attacks during the George W. Bush presidency. Thousands of Americans have also been killed or wounded in those wars.

A jubilant crowd gathered outside the White House as word spread
of bin Laden's death after a global manhunt that lasted nearly a decade.

"Justice has been done," the president said.
