Giant Hogweed-This invasive plant was brought over during Victorian times as an ornamental plant for gardens. It is highly ornamental, that’s the problem. It draws you in; you want to get up close. The plant is huge; 10-15 ft. tall with mammoth size leaves topped by white umbrella shaped and sized flowers, the green stem is as big around as a soda can, and has purple splotches and fine hairs. (Think Queen Ann’s Lace on steroids.) DO NOT TOUCH- Giant hogweed causes serious skin reactions when touched. If you suspect you have been in contact then call your doctor. If you need help identifying Hogweed send images to firstname.lastname@example.org.
