Mohawk Softball Gets Wet Win Over Herkimer

Sports WKTV

What started with an innocent one-out infield single turned into a timely 11-run rally at rain-soaked Mohawk on Friday, as the Lady Mohicans came back from a 6-4 deficit in the bottom of the 6th inning to beat Center State Conference Division I foe Herkimer 15-6.

Mohawk sent 16 batters to plate in the deciding at-bat, with the big blow coming on a three-run double by Heather Johnson that broke a 6-6 tie. Along with Johnson, the Lady Mohicans were led by Alex Kryshchuk who went 3-5 with a double, triple, three RBI and three runs, and Christy Traglia and Kaylee Luppino each went 4-5.

The victory improves Mohawk to 7-8 overall and 5-6 in CSC Division I play; Herkimer falls to 8-12 (3-7).
