Video of the celebration at Hamilton College and reaction from Sarah Bray, Head Coach Patty Kloidt, and Kaillie Briscoe

CLINTON, N.Y. -- After winning its first-ever NCAA national championship in Salem, Virginia, the Hamilton College women's lacrosse team couldn't wait to get home.

Just a few hours after beating defending champion Franklin & Marshall 13-6, the Lady Continentals returned to campus with well-deserved fanfare, getting a fire truck escort through the Village of Clinton and arriving to a crowd of some 200 raucous fans ready to celebrate the achievement.

The NCAA title was a first for any Hamilton team since the school was allowed to begin participating in national team tournaments in 1993, when the New England Small College Athletic Conference, of which Hamilton is a member, lifted a ban on such tournaments. The conference originally imposed the ban out of a concern for academic performance, and did not want its member schools playing more than two weeks beyond the end of the regular season.
