SHERRILL, N.Y. -- Parkhurst came through when it absolutely needed to on Friday at Noyes Park, slipping past Sherrill with a last-inning rally to win 4-3.

Trailing 3-2 in the top of the seventh, Parkhurst loaded the bases with no outs against Sherrill starting pitcher Ryan Dungey on an infield single, a bunt single, and an outfield single. Jeff Sergott tied the game with a sacrifice flyout to left, then Andrew Munn stroked an RBI single to left, putting Parkhurst ahead 4-3. The visitors nearly got an insurance run with a single on the next play, but Eric Morrissette was thrown out at home--a controversial but correct call, as Morrissette's front foot was in the air over the plate at the time of the tag. Sherrill escaped the at-bat without further damage, but the damage was already done as Parkhurst starting pitcher Mike St. Thomas threw a 1-2-3 bottom of the seventh to seal the win.

Sherrill opened the scoring in the bottom of the first on a run-scoring fielder's choice, but Parkhurst came right back in the top of the second, tying the game on a rundown between first and second that allowed a runner at third to score. Dungey and Thomas traded zeros for the next two innings, then Sherrill took a 3-1 lead with back-to-back two-out RBI singles in the fifth. Parkhurst cut it to 3-2 on a fielder's choice in the sixth, setting up its comeback in the seventh.

With the win, Parkhurst improves to 3-4 in Oneida County league play; Sherrill drops to 4-3.
