Hamilton Men Fall In League Opener

CLINTON, NY - St. Lawrence University snapped a 1-1 tie with two goals in the second half and the visiting Saints went on to a 3-1 Liberty League victory against Hamilton College at Love Field on Friday.

Jesse Arroyave '11 scored his third goal this year for Hamilton (4-2 overall, 0-1 Liberty). Anthony Carello '09 made two saves. The Continentals have lost two straight games after they opened the season with four consecutive wins.

St. Lawrence (6-3, 1-0) grabbed a 1-0 lead just 24 seconds into the contest, but Arroyave responded in the 14th minute with his unassisted goal to bring Hamilton even. The score remained tied until the 68th minute, when the Saints notched their second goal. St. Lawrence added an insurance goal in the 76th minute.

The Continentals were 3-1-2 in their previous six games against the Saints, including two wins in Canton, N.Y., last year. St. Lawrence held a slim 14-13 advantage in shots.

Hamilton's 2007 all-region selection Max Akuamoah-Boateng '09 sat out his fourth straight game due to injury. The Continentals host Clarkson University for another league game on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m.
