Whitesboro Girls Run Away From New Hartford


NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - New Hartford made a run to get back into the game on Friday, then Whitesboro ran away with it, using a 17-0 surge to sweep their league rivals 58-40.

With Whitesboro's experienced squad leading 27-15 in the second quarter, New Hartford's youthful bunch closed the half on a 12-3 run to cut the score to 30-27.  The Lady Spartans pulled ahead 34-33 early in the third, but they then went scoreless for the next 10 minutes and 24 seconds while the Lady Warriors scored 17 points to go up for good 50-34.

Betsy Gadziala led the way with a game-high 24 points while New Hartford was led by Pret Kennedy with 12 points and Stephanie Furgal with 10.

The victory keeps Whitesboro perfect in Tri Valley League play at 10-0 and improves the Lady Warriors to 12-4 overall; New Hartford drops to 7-4 in league play and 8-9 overall.
