Need Help Filling Out Brackets? Maybe We Can Help

By Sports WKTV

WKTV - So you say you are having some trouble filling out your NCAA brackets? We have just a few stats to help you make your picks.

If you are thinking of pick upsets, consider this: number one seeds are 96-0 all-time versus 16 seeds and 13 seeds have never made it past the sweet 16. A twelve seed has beaten a five in 21 of the past 24 years.

At least one team seeded third or lower has made the Final Four 27 of the past 30 years. All four "one" seeds have made the final four only once and that was last year. Three number ones have made it three times, all in the 1990's and a final four without a number one seed has only happened twice (1980 and 2006).

Going back over the years, the lowest seed to ever win the title is an eight seed (Villanova in 1985). Only four teams have ever won the title after not being ranked in the preseason.

Finally, just two teams from the same state have only played in the championship once, that was Cincinnati and Ohio State in 1961 (Cincy won 70-65 in OT).
