Boilermaker 2009 will have new champions

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The 2009 Boilermaker Road Race, at this point, will have a new champion. The men's and women's champs from 2008 are not on the list of elite runners for this year.

Terefe Maregu and Ashu Rabo Kasim of Ethiopia are not scheduled to be here. Neither are the winners from the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta that was just run this past saturday. However, the cupboard isnt bare.

As of Tuesday, the second, third and fifth place runners from the men's division at Peachtree are set to come to Utica. On the women's side, the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth place finishers from Peachtree are coming.

Elite runners coordinator Dick Mattia says the list is subject to change. Stay with NEWSChannel 2 and www.wktv.com for further updates.
