SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WKTV) - Syracuse senior wide receiver Mike Williams has quit the team according to head coach Doug Marrone. There was no reason given at the Orange weekly Monday press conference.

Williams, who missed last season and left Syracuse due to academic reasons, returned this season and once again was the team's leading receiver. Through seven games, Williams was averaging over 15 yards a catch. He leads the team with 49 receptions for 746 yards and six touchdowns.

Coach Marrone said he would not comment on players that left the program, "The program is headed forward." he said. When asked why Williams left the team, coach Marrone said "You will have to ask him."
