New Hartford blanks Plattsburgh, headed back to State Final


UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The New Hartford hockey team is going back to the Division II State Championship Game, after a 6-0 victory over Plattsburgh State in the semifinals Saturday at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.  Spencer Landry got the shutout with 16 saves.

It didn't take long for the Spartans to get the party started as Tom Nitti re-directed Joe Betar's shot just over a minute into the game. The Spartans then followed up with a Mike Critelli power play goal and a Jason Fitzgerald goal to take a 3-0 lead into the first intermission.

The Spartans defense took care of business in the second while Alex Fukes padded the lead in the period with an unassisted goal to make it 4-0. Third period goals by Clayton Whittemore and Chris Luker were icing on the cake.
