Boxing HOF to induct 11 Sunday

CANASTOTA, N.Y. (WKTV) - It's Boxing Hall of Fame Induction weekend, with eleven new members to be enshrined Sunday.

Some big names have made it in the last few years, from Mike Tyson and Sylvester Stallone in 2011 to Thomas "Hitman" Hearns and Michael Bufffer in 2012.

This year's group may not be as recognizable, with Virgil Hill and Arturo Gatti the biggest named fighters, as well as referee Mills Lane, but is still a great group to represent the sport.

The annual Celebrity Workout and fist casting was held Friday, with fans getting a chance to meet and greet a few boxing celebs.

NEWSChannel 2 caught up with a pair of colleagues of Lane, who work with him as refs in Nevada.  Both are excited to spend the weekend in Canastota, talking boxing with fans.

"I've had people come to me from England, people come from all over the world to come here," said Kenny Bayless.  "So what better place for a person like myself to come and experience the moment, feel the people, with all the different functions they've got going on for the next three days, what better place to be."

"Being here with all these boxing fans, they truly are followers of the sport," added Vic Drakulich.  "The fact that I get to mingle with them, talk to them, shake hands, it's just a great feeling.  I thoroughly enjoy it."

The Induction Ceremony is set for 2:30 p.m. Sunday, with the Parade of Champions at one.  This year's Grand Marshall is Academy Award nominated actress Rosie Perez.
