Brewers join PGCBL; Former Miner makes majors

WKTV - The Utica Brewers have joined the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League and former Little Falls Miner Caleb Thielbar is now in the majors.

The Brewers and Adirondack Trail Blazers will both compete in the PGCBL beginning in the summer of 2013, meaning they will compete with the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs on the field.

Thielbar was a pitcher for the Miners, a predecessor of the DiamondDawgs, back in 2007, when he struck out 52 batters in 52 innings.  He was added to the 40-man roster of the Minnesota Twins, one of eight players that were added to protect them from the Rule 5 draft.

Thielbar is the first player from the DiamondDawgs organization to make the big leagues and the tenth from the PGCBL, joining names such as Hunter Pence and Cody Eppley.
