HERKIMER, N.Y. - Local talent Carson Murphy, the 2013 Sports Express Boys Basketball Player of the Year, has committed to the Herkimer Generals men’s basketball team for the 2014-2015 season, leaving Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA after one season.

Murphy, a graduate of Mohawk High School, was the 2012-2013 New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Section III runner-up, averaging 24 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals per game as a senior. Head Men’s Basketball Coach Matt Lee stated, “We are excited to get Carson on the basketball court. He is the type of student-athlete we look for at Herkimer College. As one of the better athletes from the valley, we look forward to the community’s support for him and the College.”
