Spartans top Clinton for second straight win

By MIKE LEVIN

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - The New Hartford hockey team won its second straight game Wednesday night, topping Section III Division II rival Clinton 5-3 at the Rec Center.  The Warriors scored the game's first goal just fourteen seconds in, but the Spartans scored five unanswered goals to take control.

After Luke Lauchert's goal gave Clinton a 1-0 lead, Nick Suits tied it up just a minute later.  The two went to the first intermission tied at one apiece.

The first of New Hartford's four second period goals was credited to Jack Vitagliano, as his shot was redirected by a Clinton defender to put the Spartans up 2-1. Joe Holmes led the way with two goals and one assist.

With the win, New Hartford improves to 2-5-2, while Clinton's loss drops them to 5-6.
