SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Clinton baseball team is already a section champ, winning the Class B-2 title Monday over Ilion, but Thursday their season ended at the hand of Marcellus, 11-4 in the overall B final. The Warriors came back from a 2-0 deficit to take the lead, but fell victim to a late inning explosion by the Mustangs.
Clinton scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth, the first on a sacrifice fly by Ben Hobaica, which scored Zach Lusby. The next batter, Richie Maxam, tied the score with an RBI single scoring Pat Foxton. That was followed by a two run double by Joe Durante that brought Austin Bouse and Maxam home.
But in the top of the fifth, Marcellus tied it back up on a two run home run by Jordan Smith. The Mustangs then scored four runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh to seal the win.
