Dolgeville holds off West Canada for win

NEWPORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - For the second straight week West Canada came close, but couldn't quite beat a top Class D East foe, as the Indians fell 14-7 at home to Dolgeville Saturday.  A week earlier the Indians fell 14-13 at Westmoreland.

Dolgeville scored both of their touchdowns in the second quarter, the first by Jared Frederick, who had 101 yards on 16 carries in the game.

Later in the quarter, Ray Ruggerio added a five yard score to give the Blue Devils a 14-0 halftime lead.  Ruggerio had 150 yards on 16 carries.

The score remained 14-0 until the fourth quarter, when Nick Minasi scored from five yards out to cut the lead in half.

But the Blue Devil D held off West Canada (1-2) from there, preserving the win for Dolgeville (3-0).

The Blue Devils will visit Oriskany next Saturday, while West Canada hosts Waterville.
