High School football camps open around Central New York

By Sports WKTV

(WKTV) - High School football camps opened today and despite some early thunderstorms that prevents some schools from getting outside for the first session, enthusiasm was high on the first day.

In Dolgeville, a thunderstorm kept the team inside. They were able to still work on stretching and limited drills in the gymnasium. Afternoon sessions however were not effected by bad weather with blue skies across the area.  The Whitesboro Warriors, the 2009 Class A Section III champs, got right to work. " This is a new team, its day one and the first thing we impressed upon them this morning is, we can't go backwards." said head coach Tom Schoen. "We have to go forward and the only thing they have to be concerned about right now is Oswego. You want to be 1-0 after the first game."

The high school football season gets underway on Friday night September 3rd. Tune in September 2nd at 7pm or the Sports Express High School Football Preview Show with Jason Powles, Mike Levin and Don Edick. They guys will preview the upcoming 2010 season breaking down area teams as they all prepare for a run at a section title.
