Marauders advance with win over Copenhagen

NEW YORK MILLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - The NY Mills boys basketball team opened up sectional play Saturday night, beating Copenhagen 61-49 in the first round of the Class D tourney.  The #2 seeded Marauders were led by Cody Mariotti's 20 points and six rebounds, while Nick Comenale added 18 points.

The Gold Knights hung tough with the Marauders, coming back from a 22-6 deficit in the second quarter to pull within 11 at the half, 31-20.

Mills never pulled away in the second half, as Copenhagen whittled the lead to single digits in the fourth quarter before the Marauders took control for good.

Up next for Mills (16-3) is Oriskany, a team that beat the Marauders earlier in the week, in the quarterfinals Wednesday night.
