ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - The New York Mills field hockey team fell 4-0 to Cazenovia Tuesday night in the Section III Class C/D Crossover game at RFA Stadium. The Lakers have won seven straight Class C section titles and two straight state championships.
In fact, Cazenovia beat the Lady Marauders two years ago, the last time Mills won the Class D title.
NY Mills hung tough with Caz in the first half, as the score was 0-0 after thirty minutes. But the Lakers exploded in the second, beginning with a goal on a penalty shot by senior captain Jessy Silfer two and a half minutes into the second. Just two minutes later, Rachel Nourse unleashed a rocket that reached the back of the goal.
Silfer would score two more goals to finish with a hat trick, lifting Caz to another trip to regionals, which will be Saturday at CNS.
The Marauders, ranked second in the Class D sectional tournament this year, finished the season 12-5-3.
