NYM boys, Oneonta girls fall in semifinal games



Three local basketball teams made the New York State final four. New York Mills boys and Ontonta girls fell Friday with Oriskany scheduled to play Saturday.


New York Mills
The Marauders' attempt for a second state title in three years was unsucessful as undefeated Argyle beat New York Mills, 67-60, in the Class D semifinals Friday at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

New York Mills finishes the season with a 20-4 record.

Junior Nick Comenale, a NEWSChannel 2 All-star and former Athlete of the Week, led the Marauders with 21 points. Senior D.J. Kirilko added 14 points in his last high school career game.


Oneonta girls lose at buzzer to Irvington in Class B State Semifinal, 55-53.

This was Oneonta's first appearance in the state final four after a two-year absence, but their third in five years, after championship game appearances in 2009 and 2010.


The second-ranked Lady Redskins will play against Livingston Manor on Saturday morning at 9 from Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.

The girls from Oriskany have not appeared in a state final four since 2000.
