Oriskany girls fall short of state title
TROY, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Oriskany girls basketball team fell one game short of perfection Sunday, as Batavia Notre Dame won the Class D state title, 52-40. The Lady Redskins committed 19 turnovers in the loss, finishing with a record of 23-1.
Jordan Sahl led Oriskany with 16 points, while Madison Zizzi added 11. Both sophomores will be back next year, but a superb senior class led by Christina Graziadei and Shannon VanShufflin played their final game at Hudson Valley Community College.
Tied at 18 going into the third quarter, BND and Oriskany traded leads several times. But after the Lady Redskins took a 28-26 advantage, the Irish went on a 14-0 run that Oriskany would not recover from.
