Pflieger wins another section title


SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WKTV) - Meghan Pflieger of New Hartford won her third straight Section III high school gymnastics all-around title Friday.  The senior who's going to New Hampshire next year on a full scholarship also took first place on the balance beam and the floor exercise events.  Pflieger's Valley Gymnastics teammate, but varsity rival from Whitesboro, McKenna Passalacqua, took first on the vault.

New Hartford won the overall team title, while Whitesboro finished in second.  12-year-old Jensen Todd of New Hartford finished third in the all-around. 

Out of 20 gymnasts from Valley, seven qualified for the state tournament in the winter.  In addidtion to Pflieger, Passalacqua and Todd, Jenna Zakala from RFA made it, as did Amanda Sardo and Isha Smith from Whitesboro and Cameron Karwowski from New Hartford.

With the varsity season now concluded in Section III, the girls from Valley enter the club season, with the annual Leatherstocking meet at a new venue this year, the JC Field House at MVCC, on January 19th and 20th.
