H.S. Hockey:RFA falls short against West Genny again

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - For the third straight season, the RFA hockey team fell short in the Section III Division I Final against West Genesee, losing 3-2 Saturday at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. The Black Knights came back from a 3-0 deficit to pull within one wirh just over three and a half minutes to play, but couldn't come up with the tying goal. For the Wildcats, it's their sixth straight section title overall.
West Genny broke a scoreless tie with 1:14 to go until the first intermission, as Robbie Michel blasted a long shot in for a power play goal.
The Wildcats then got two more in the second period, first on a shorthanded breakaway goal by Ryan McDonald, then second on a rebounder by Derek Farrell about midway through the period.
But the Black Knights got back in it with 4:19 to go until the second intermission, thanks to a power play goal by Justin Hussey.
RFA clawed their way back in it late, as Tyler Nicolaus scored off a faceoff win by Drew DeBlasiis with 3:36 to go.
But with less than a minute to go, the Black Knights drew two penalties, putting them down two players in the closing moments.
