Spartans topple rival Whitesboro in league opener


NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - The New Hartford boys basketball team opened their Tri-Valley League schedule Tuesday night with an 81-64 win over rival Whitesboro.  Both teams already opened their seasons on the road at tournaments over the weekend and are each now 2-1 overall.

The Spartans, who jumped out to a 17-12 lead at the end of the first quarter and 40-26 at the half, were led by Mark Chanatry, who scored 23 points, 21 of which came on his seven three pointers.  Jared Henderson added 17 for New Hartford.

Whitesboro was led by Jake Jakubowicz, who scored 19 points.  The Warriors will host RFA Friday, while the Spartans travel to V-V-S.
