UC's Coffman Earns ECHL Tryout
WKTV - Utica College senior captain Tim Coffman is on a two day tryout this weekend with the Greenville Road Warriors of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). The ECHL is considered “AA” professional hockey, which one step below the American Hockey League (AHL). The Road Warriors are an affiliate of the NHL’s New York Rangers.
Coffman proved his worth in his first game as he registered one assist on Friday night as Greenville defeated the Trenton Titans 5-2. His first professional point came on the Road Warriors final goal of the contest at the 16:25 mark of the third period. Coffman and the Road Warriors will travel to take on the Reading Royals, in Reading, Pa., tonight at 7:05 p.m.
Coffman, a four time ECAC Men’s West All-Conference selection, is Utica College's all-time leading scorer with 139 career points. He was recently selected to the ECAC Men’s West All-Conference First Team after posting 33 points on 11 goals and a team-best 22 assists in his senior campaign.
He was consistent all year long for the Pioneers, scoring at least two points in 10 different games, and he was held scoreless only four times on the year - another career best.
Utica College closed out its 2011-12 season on Wednesday with a 4-3 overtime loss at the hands of Neumann University in the quarterfinals of the ECAC Men’s West Conference Tournament.
