Utica Post prepares for Districts

By Sports WKTV

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Utica Post 229 is not taking anyone lightly. After a tremendous regular season that saw the team go 17-1 in Oneida County league play, they are now gearing up for the District V playoffs this week.

Utica will face Little Falls on Wednesday at 6pm at DeLutis Field in Rome. Utica is led by strong pitching and great hitting. They boast a 3.69 team ERA. Their power game is led by Vin Gaetano who has 10 home runs this summer. "It's exciting im looking forward to it." says Gaetano. "A big part of it is getting to win the first game, if you win that first game that eliminates a game you have to play in the losers bracket."

But, this certainly won't be easy. "We go in with the best record but there are no seedings in the District tournament so no one has an advantage." says head coach Greg Gaeta. "Everyone is on equal footing. It is going to be a battle. Any of the teams from Oneida County can beat anyone on any given day plus you throw in Ilion and actually the team from Little Falls is the team we haven't played."

Here is the schedule for Wednesday:

American Legion District V Playoffs

New Hartford vs. MMO 10am ( Field 1)

Whitestown vs. Adrean 12pm ( Field 2)
