Boys Basketball: West Genny knocks out RFA
ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - The season came to an end Tuesday night for the RFA boys basketball, who fell 69-64 to West Genesee in the first round of the Section III Class AA tournament at Strough Middle School. The Black Knights' late rally fell just short, as they got as close as three points.
Trailing by double digits late in the first half, RFA came back to pull within eight, 33-25 at halftime. Aaron Tennant then jump started the Black Knights early in the third quarter, hitting a three pointer to pull his team within five, 33-28.
The Wildcats hit a few shots, but RFA kept coming, with Lloyd Parkmond scoring a few of his team high 25 points to keep the Black Knights within five, 45-40, after three quarters.
But RFA could never get the lead and West Genny hung on in the final seconds. Phil Allen scored a game high 29 points and Trevor Smith added 15. Justin Henry of RFA also scored 15.
West Genesee advances to face #2 Henninger in the quarterfinals, Friday at 7 p.m. RFA finishes the season at 12-7.
