H.S. Football: Westmo stays perfect, runs over Mills

NEW YORK MILLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Westmoreland Bulldogs kept their undefeated record intact Saturday, scoring three touchdowns in the first quarter and rolling to a 49-8 win in Class D East action. With the win, Westmo (5-0) kept pace with Dolgeville, who also won Saturday, 39-0 over Cooperstown.
The Bulldogs got on the board in the first quarter, when Tyler Crandall hit Addison Wolanin, causing a fumble. Brian Lemaire recovered in the end zone for the touchdown. Zack Green scored next for Westmo, on a 13 yard TD. After Marvin Sherman intercepted Wolanin, Teddy Flint ran in a 13 yard touchdown.
In the second quarter, Green found Sherman for a 19 yard TD pass to give the Bulldogs a 27-0 lead at halftime.
Green ended up gaining 81 yards of total offense, scoring two times. Tyler Barnes rushed for 87 yards and a scored, while Devin Williams ran 10 times for 78 yards and a TD.
Westmo's defense picked off Wolanin 4 times, while also forcing three Marauder turnovers.
The Bulldogs will host Oriskany next Saturday while Mills (3-2) visits Waterville on Friday night.
