Westmo wins rare Sunday game

By MIKE LEVIN

WESTMORELAND, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Westmoreland football team won their 2012 home opener, 7-6 over Pulaski on a rare Sunday.  The game was moved due to Saturday's brutal thunderstorms.

Zack Green scored the tying touchdown in the third quarter, then kicked a go ahead extra point to give the Bulldogs the lead.  Green finished with 156 yards on 16 carries, while Robert Heitzmann added 107 yards on 23 carries.

Pulaski took the lead in the first quarter, on a 96 yard TD pass from Thomas Taplin to Travis Purdy.  Their two point conversion was no good, however, so the game remained at 6-0 from that point until the Bulldogs score in the third.

Westmoreland (2-0) heads to Beaver River next Saturday.
