Dave Golembiowski Named SUNYAC Rookie Of The Year

After a sensational first season with the SUNYIT men’s basketball team, freshman Dave Golembiowski (Barneveld, N.Y./Holland Patent) has been named the 2008 SUNYAC Rookie of the Year.

Golembiowski finished the season as the Wildcats’ top scorer, three-point shooter and shot blocker. The 6-7 forward averaged 15.8 points per game, hit 72 three-pointers, and blocked 36 shots this season. He was also second on the squad in rebounds (7.6/game).

Golembiowski’s numbers ranked him in the Top 5 in the 12-team SUNYAC in scoring, three-pointers and blocks, and he ended up 7th in the conference in rebounds, and 11th in three-point field goal percentage (.375).

Nationally, he was tied for 43rd in three-point field goals per game averaging 2.9 per contest. Only six other Division III freshmen in the entire nation hit more three-pointers than Golembiowski this season.
