Hamilton Women Wipe Out William Smith

CLINTON, N.Y. -- Kaillie Briscoe '09 scored five goals and assisted on another as nationally ranked No. 5 Hamilton College handed visiting No. 11 William Smith College its first loss, 19-3, in a Liberty League women's lacrosse game at Campus Road Athletic Field on April 18.
Briscoe also had four draw controls. Nicole Tetreault '08 scored four goals and added an assist as Hamilton (12-1, 5-0 Liberty) won its 10th straight overall, 17th in a row at home and 15th straight against league opponents. Jen McGowan '08 scored two goals, added one assist and picked up three ground balls. Kate Fowler '10 played all 60 minutes in goal and made six saves.
Sarah Goodkind '10 scored two goals for the Herons (11-1, 4-1 Liberty). Cassie Findlay '11 scored the other goal. Becky Josefiak '09 was hit for the loss in goal. Josefiak played 37:11 and made six saves. Morgan Baird '08 saw 22:49 of action but did not make a save.
Briscoe scored the game's first two goals. She made good on a free-position chance only 34 seconds in. She then scored off Tetreault's assist just 1 minute, 5 seconds later. The Continentals scored the game's first 15 goals and led, 13-0, at the half. William Smith finally got on the scoreboard with 22:30 remaining in the second half.
The Herons, who lead the all-time series, 31-7, are ranked No. 1 in the New York region, while Hamilton is No. 2.
