HCCC Men Shut Out Borough of Manhattan

Sports WKTV

HERKIMER, N.Y. -- Two games into the season, the Herkimer County Community College men's soccer team looks exactly like it does every year.

After shutting out Division I College of Southern Maryland 1-0 last weekend, the Generals dropped back to Division III on Saturday and won another shutout, blanking Borough of Manhattan 2-0 in the opening round of the Coliseum Soccer Club Classic at Wehrum Stadium.

After a scoreless first half, HCCC pulled ahead on goals by Kariym Balthazar and Santhiago DeVicente. That proved to be plenty, as the Generals' defense did not allow a single shot on goal.

HCCC, ranked No. 4 in Division III, improves to 2-0 with the win. The Generals will face Dutchess in the final Sunday at 12:15.
